The river front under the bluff at Rockport in rich with history including the site where Abraham Lincoln launched a flatboat to transport produce to New Orleans for a local merchant in 1828. While in New Orleans, Lincoln was very disturbed by a slave auction he witnessed on the docks. It was an experience he would never forget and one that influenced his views on the practice of slavery in years to come.
Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial
This splendid National Park is the site where Abraham Lincoln grew up. Learn about the lives of Abraham Lincoln and his family, who lived here in a pioneer community from 1816 to1830. Lincoln's mother, Nancy Hanks Lincoln is buried in a pioneer cemetery located on the park grounds.
Lincoln Pioneer Village & Museum

The Lincoln Pioneer Village Museum houses hundreds of fascinating artifacts from the areas historic past including a hutch made by Abraham Lincoln's father, Thomas. Located next to the museum is the historic Lincoln Pioneer Village, consisting of cabins that are replicas from the Lincoln era in Spencer County.
